About Us
Shawnee Merten also comes from a four-generation carnival family. Shawnee’s family’s show was started in 1949 and he grew up and worked on the show from an early age. After receiving his degree in Business Management, Economics and Political Science in 1972 from San Diego State University he managed a fair in northern California. In 1980 he joined a large national insurance brokerage firm in the Entertainment Specialty division in San Antonio, TX. By doing so, Shawnee helped start Allied Specialty Insurance. In 1987, Shawnee went back to the family show and ran the booking office and marketing departments until 2004 when the company was sold. In 1997 he started his own event management and consulting business and has been managing and producing events for the last 18 years.
Carnival Midway Attractions currently operates in California and Wyoming and is expanding its route into Idaho, Montana, Utah and Colorado. We are a full service company providing rides, games, food concessions and event management and support to over 60 events each year including county fairs, community festivals, corporate events, church festivals and non profit fund raisers. We also provide attractions and equipment for movie and television production.
